Our drive from Arusha to Namanga took about two
hours over a paved road with a sometimes broken surface.

In fact we encountered several detours around places
where workers were replacing parts of the road. The map to the
right indicates Arusha, our starting point with a circle, and our
approximate route with an arrow. (Click on it to enlarge it.)
The images below are subdivided into two
parts: A few images along the road, followed by second set at the
school in Namanga. We visited there because Shirley and Joyce had
met a Namanga teacher at another school on a previous trip.
This teacher had been transfered to Namanga.
The town of Namanga sits astride the Tanzania/Kenya
border. It serves as an official crossing point for both tourists
and commerce. We saw a mission secondary school as we got to the
town's outskirts. The countryside is arid, but not as arid
as the area around Sinya Camp -
shown on images there.
